The Omnia II is the sequel to the WinMo Omnia, not this phone by the way.

Regarding the re-launch - its August 1st so I'd wait until then (it'll be coming with a new firmware that brings improvements). I'm pretty well certain that the hardware will be the same though.

this got a very positive review from gsmarena. only quibble about the software is that it takes a while to load images on screen.
Not sure how long the delay though. is the 600 mhz processor outdated already?
im looking forward to this phone, looking for the 16gb version but can only find 8 gb.
currenly a sony v800 owner so going to be a massive upgrade for me

No idea, the delay is only in the native gallery app and the Samsung one - I use Photoflow and its instantaneous - so this is hardly a problem worth mentioning.

Yup, massive upgrade for you :) Like when I went from the awful Motorola V3 to my N95...

had that phone for 3-4 years.
cool theres a solution to that. also some ppl are saying after update the hd recorded videos picture quality is not as good as before. but sound is of course better. Still they say its better than D1/VGA.
Can you tell me how is it when viewing pdf files, does it reach full screen?
Also what cover are you using since I want this to last me 3 years or so

No cover. I always keep my phones in a pocket that is otherwise empty and they do fine, but then I do only keep phones for a few months usually... There is a good thread at samsungi8910omnia forums where people are talking cases - a leather one you can customise on Ebay looked pretty good.

Can't remember about PDFs, have viewed some but can't remember if they were fullscreen or not... Will check and get back to you.

GSMarena thought the video was worse in terms of frames, there was occasional frame-drop and duplication. Looks fine to me.

NZtechfreak,

Ive been keeping a very close eye on this phone as it looks like the upgrade for my N95-1 after 2 years. An FM transmitter is a must for a new phone for me as they would mean been able to play my music on any radio at any time. So do you think the fm transmitter will definitely be enabled at some stage? I kon you dont have a crystal ball but you seem to have a good hand on these things.

Otherwise it looks fantastic, can't wait to try one for myself ;)

I bit the bullet and bought ordered mine last week, from what I've read on forums which NZTech frequents, chances are that it will be enabled in a future firmware as the hardware is definitely there.

Yea Ive read that too tho I aren't 100% the hardware is there.

Where about did you order yours from? How is it so far?

I would also like the change to hold one and try it on for size before taking the plunge but am in chch and dont fancy my chances finding someone with one down here yet.

Got mine a couple of weeks ago, hadn't owned a Symbian phone in about 3 or 4 years I think, things have changed!

Incredible screen and excellent camera are the main draw. It's a bit flakey so I'm looking to flash it quite soon.

My iPhone 3GS is still my main phone because of iTunes and the App Store, but the i8910 is some really nice hardware, no doubt.

Had two suppliers on this one, both North Shore Aucks.

Expert Infotech - Got the phone in a week, promised to get it in a day, but what the hey. Phone sourced from Eastern Europe I think.

eSquare - Said they could get the phone cheaper, but Expert Infotech were all ready to go.
