Correct. I am not saying the alternatives are better ;)

edwinprakash: It's been weeks now and still no tethering on my phone Cry  Product codes 059N7B6 and 059N7D3 are still waiting for approval.  What's going on Nokia?!?

Yep still waiting on 059N7B6. Someone is not following through here, not sure if it's Telecom or Nokia, but a little proactive customer support from both parties wouldn't go amiss.

Not in the coming months at all.

I understand the frustration, I'd also rather everything just flowed as we'd hope, but this time round there has been a slight delay.

In classic impatient angry customer style I reply: "Can't you just push the button and make it happen!"

:P

saw this thread so dug my one out from under the pile of stuff on my work desk. Plugged it in and said I had an update straight away. All downloaded and installed fine. Turned it on and had a play but still dont like it so returned back to under pile of stuff. Here's hoping that the Windows Phone 7.x update coming soon will make it better. I guess my main point though is got phone, plugged in, found update, just worked so the actually update experience is pretty good. Just the roll out of the update, inparticular the timing around it that seems to be the problem.

Well its a Nokia 800 Lumia on Vodafone. No idea what product code is.

Also, can anyone enlighten me as to why there are 2 map apps - Nokia Drive and Nokia Maps? Shouldnt they be kinda the same?

Nokia drive is offline, turn by turn voice guided app.
Nokia maps is online and no voice guidance app.

I really hope, they mix the two to combing one in Windows phone 8 as I see no point either in having both.

Do whatever you want to do man.

I was offered an update right now. Running it and let's see if the WiFi Hotspot shows up - I really needed it a couple of weeks ago when my TelstraClear connection died here at home :(

Ah ha, tried earlier, but update just sat there spinning. Had to go out and tried again when came back.

Firmware now upgraded from 1600.2487.8107.12070 to 1750.0805.8773.12220. No change in OS version which stayed at 7.10.8773.98. This is for a Telecom Lumia 800, Product Code 059N7B6.

I now have Internet Sharing at last - yay!

I'll expand on that a little.

Nokia Drive is full voice guided turn by turn navigation for in vehicle navigation. It has the ability to download and store maps and POI's offline to mitigate data costs. To use the full offline features you need to ensure you have Nokia Drive 3.0 and the map data for the countries you'll be using it as well as your preferred voice.

Nokia Maps is an online only service which integrates pedestrian navigation including public transport (you can also do this using Nokia Transport application) Nokia Maps also gives you a range of viewing options including satellite and traffic. You can also sync your favorites to/from http://maps.nokia.com and share your location with people via messaging or social networks.

OS: 7.10.8773.98

I just installed Camera Extras so will be playing around with that this arvo ;)

Sucks that these handsets won't support WP8 though :(
