I've been happily using GPRS for the past couple of years on my PDA2K (Vodafone) and suddenly it stopped working. When trying to connect, I now get "No modem at above number. To check your connection settings and change them if needed, tap Settings."

I've tried:
- checking my settings
- soft reset
- hard reset

Please help!

tried a different sim card?
are you an on account customer - perhaps you might be eligible for a subsidised upgrade into a new unit?

Yes, I've tried a different Sim card but still no joy. I dont have a contract so I cant upgrade. If I use the Cellular line option, I can get onto the internet no problem but it just doesnt work when I use GPRS. Weird?

"No modem at above number" indicates that your configuration is using the wrong APN, or your Pocket PC is not configured to use the proper connection. It can also be that your username and password are not correct in the connection. Or that your account is not configured to accept GPRS connections.

On your Pocket PC tap Start | Settings | Connections | Connections | Advanced Settings, make sure that both Internet and Work use the same connection configuration. Open the connection configuration and make sure the default setting is using the correct APN and using GPRS as connection type.

I dont think thats the case because I've been using GPRS for the past couple of years no problem but it suddenly stopped working and I now get "No modem at above number..." I'm using the same settings that I've always used but they just dont work any more. If I connect to the internet using the cellular line then it works so that would suggest the modem is fine doesn't it? Any other ideas please?

What do you mean by connect to Internet using a cellular line? Are you dialing an ISP number? Also, I've seen happening before where the configuration is accidentally erased. Worth checking with your provider to see if your account is authorised to use GPRS - sometimes things change on their end.

Yes

The configuration is all there and I've tried putting my sim card in another phone and the GPRS works fine ):
