Morning

I have an Apache running WM5. We have uninstalled ActiveSync as we don't need it anymore. We are doing the Direct Push thing with our Exchange server. What we do want to do is drop and drag files between the PC and the Apache. I spoke with Telecom yesterday (everyday this week actually), and they said we could uninstall ASync and just use the USB driver off the Getting Started CD and then when we plug the apache in via the USB cable we're good to go.

I've uninstalled AS, but when I connect the Apache via USB the wizard does not start. I tried it on another PC and the wizard did start but it couldn't find the driver. Can anyone tell me where the driver is, and how to start the wizard manually? I must have 'ticked' something somewhere, but i figure you can run it manually too.

Any help appreciated.

Sandy

There's no such a thing... Sorry, but the guys at TNZ were wrong on this one. The driver on the CD is only for using the device as a modem and connect to the CDMA EVDO network. If you want to "see" the device's content and copy files to and from it you will need ActiveSync installed.

If you synchronise with an Exchange Server ActiveSync won't change any setting, with the additional benefit of providing an easier access to your device.

Grrrr, I thought it was too good to be true.

We just didn't want AS to popup each time we plugged it in (90% it's plugged into the PC for charging only).  I guess we will just have to reinstall AS and take a peek at the options and see if we can stop it running automatically.

Thanks for such a quick response...much better than being on hold for 25m then getting the wrong info!! LOL

You just configure ActiveSync to not open when the device is connected. Right-click the icon, Connection Settings - it's there...
