BT network has 3 devices: WinXP Laptop -- Palm Tungsten T -- T610 cell phone.

WinXP sends and recceives to and from T610 phone.
T610 phone sends and receives to and from Tungsten T.
Tungsten T sends to WinXP but can't receive...
When sending a file from the WinXP desktop it opens a connection and tries to establish FTP, then reads "no FTP service available". I can't find any setting to change or fix this. Since Palm OS doesn't support OBEX, WinXP shouldn't be looking for an FTP connection, but rather just send the object! Does anyone have a solution?

Thanks for your help!

BTW, the latest software from Widcomm makes my WinXP very unstable when opening and closing BT places windows and settings. Any thoughts?

Before you try sending the files you might want to do a "discover". Open My bluetooth Places, find the icon corresponding to the Palm and double-click it. It should then show the icons corresponding to the services supported.

Now go back to the previous list with all devices, open Windows Explorer, find a file you want to send to your Palm and drag-and-drop it on the icon. If the file is a .prc the Palm should receive the file and install it, like an infrared beamed file.

Also make sure your Palm has Bluetooth on.

Thank you. Opening my Palm device in My Bluetooth places efectively searches for client services and allows files to be transferred to Palm by dragging or using the contextual menu.

However every time I reboot or start-up the WinXP laptop I have to open the Palm icon and have it scan for services again... Is there a way to make it "automatic"?

After the first scan it should be permanent. It can be a problem with the registry? This things happen and you're not aware until you find a program that behaves in a way that is not expected - like this now.

It isn't permanent... Every reboot and start-up I have to scan for services again. I'm not so computer literate as to mess around with the registry, but that is a likely source for this problem. Should I try using some software like that Registry Mechanic?
