Help Please?

Have belatedly purchased the official PPC 2003 Ugrade disk for my 5450. In trying to install the Upgrade I repeatedly experience the following problem:

I scrupulously follow the instructions to do a normal reset of the PPC & establish ActiveSync connection (3.70). All is well until the Upgrade install program tries to query the PPC and the ActiveSync connection is immediately terminated.

ActiveSync has consistently worked fine for all other connections/purposes (& still does). I have tried both USB (direct to Desktop PC & not via hub) connection as well as a serial connection but still experience same problem on this install. Also tried a hard reset but no change. Have trawled the support & discussion sites but can't find similar experience.

Any inspiring diagnosis????

Perhaps you could download ActiveSync 3.71 from the Microsoft website, install it and try with the new version.

Also make sure the Power Management options for your USB devices is off.

Are you directly connecting to your Computer? Hp has started checking for USB hubs, and droping connections when it finds a hub.

You might also want to take a look at this page; http://h71025.www7.hp.com/support/reference_library/viewdocument.asp?countrycode=1000&prodid=5689&source=MH030702_CW02.xml&dt=3&docid=19616

I had the same problem... after trying for a while, I deleted active sync restarted my computer and tried loading it again...it worked this time, but after it loaded , i have been getting a random connecting on the 5450. like its trying to connect at 115k...I ended up formating my computer and re loading everything... It works great now,,,,
But I get the connecting "115k" everynow and then.
