Hey everyone,

I'm using a Dell AXIM X50v with Windows Mobile 2003.

Something i find extremely annoying is how the keyboard, or transcriber, etc automatically pop up as soon as the unit detects some sort of input field.  I've lost count how many times I've opened a contact (I use Pocket Informant 2007 btw) and immediately tap at the bottom of the screen to select say... catagories.  Well, just before I tap the screen, the stupid letter recognizer or something pops up, and I hit that instead.  So they I change the persons name to a single letter or a dot.  It's just frustrating because of the delay of it opening, and then you hit it instead.  Or it shrinks everything on your screen so the keyboard can fit when you didn't even want it open in the first place.

Can't you force it to stay off until you tap the icon on the lower right?  I've tried looking around for an option to do this but couldn't find one.  Also google searching, I'm having a hard time finding anything - partly because I don't know how to word the question properly haha

Thanks in advance :)

Doesn't look like it... improved stylus-fu is the only thing I can think of. :)

I'd also like to know because its quite annoying with the Apache having it pop up, even when using the keyboard.

On a Pocket PC with keyboard (such as the Apache), the SIP will not popup since the last time you have used the keyboard. If you tap on the SIP though then it will rever and start showing up again until the next time you use the keyboard.

On a Pocket PC without kyboard you can't change the SIP behaviour.

Well, thanks for the replies...

Hopefully this is something that gets changed in the future.  I hate it when my devices make assumptions and do things without me telling them to.
