Hi there, I don't really follow mobile phone tech so was wondering if someone who does could tell me if this is a wild goose chase.
Just looking at a friend's Nokia E72 that has the problem of filling it's Logs/Eng/0ds folder with xml files. Seems to be a known issue fixed in a later firmware http://discussions.nokia.com/t5/Eseries-and-Communicators/E72-Log-files-eating-disk-space-FW81/m-p/1484246#M105577. The phone would appear to have a custom Telecom firmware (it has a Telecom splash screen) 051.018.230.06 which would seem to be a bit behind the 091.004 release. A search for updates from Menu > Ctrl. panel > Phone > SW update only shows the link to "Update via PC". Trying to update from the suite in Win7 64 just hangs the suite. In XP there are no updates shown. From the phone, *#0000# > Options > Check for updates reports no updates to be found.
I've seen mention of modifying the reported firmware version to override provider restrictions on firmware updates. Could a method like that be applied to this device? If it's just tough luck and has been orphaned by Telecom, is there any way of browsing the phone's filesystem and setting the 0ds folder to be read-only? Any other ideas?
