A new Facebook app is being tested. If you want to install it follow this link.

Remember, it's BETA. If you can't live with small problems (and help development by reporting these) then it's not for you.

Installed it - had to sideload it (shove it on your SD card, reboot, go into store then select "SD Card") but seems to work well.

If you go to the URL shown in the blog make sure to replace en-us with en-nz to switch store. That will give you the [INSTALL] button so you don't need to sideload it.

Installed fine from my phone, will give it a try to get used to it, but it feels pretty good so far. I kind of preferred the different style of the wp app previously so will see.

Seems to be quite buggy on my Lumia 920 - but a bit better than that other crap.

I kind of preferred the old one, but I think it's a time thing, to grow on me.

Only issue i've had is that sometimes it won't update at all, go back later and updates fine.

It hasn't updated since May 6 so I've uninstalled and gone back to the original.  Will report this via the blog.

Other than one FC it has behaved itself well on my 920

TBH this app is head and shoulders above the original app

Agreed, it would be a much better app ... if it worked!

For me, it stopped updating within a day or two of being installed.  Quitting and re-opening the app didn't make any difference.  Each different screen said "updating" for a while at the top, after entry, but then the updating message went away and nothing changed.  Very disappointing, but I guess they'll get it sorted out.

It also didn't seem capable of running in the background, so that can't have been the issue.  I'll just wait a while until they fix it.

I had that occur a couple of times but the updates worked again at other times. Checked today and worked fine. On an 8x

I'm giving Facebook Touch a try while I wait for MS to hopefully fix their beta.

The free version of "Touch" has a thin line of ads down the bottom but it's not too intrusive, and you can buy the ad-free version for a paltry sum.  So far, I like it much better than the original app that MS provided for WP8, but not as much as the beta ... when it was working.  I'll see how it goes in the meantime, and might shell out for the upgrade if I like it enough.
