I had my N6600 for over 3 months now and aside from the
occasional
auto shutdowns and relatively s-l-o-o-owww functions of the various
applications, the phone worked satisfactorily. However about a week
ago, i
started opening my email and browsing the web and all of a sudden my
memory card failed to open all the files i had inside. And even if you
try
to take a pic or record a vid an try to save it to the memory card the
"app.closed-media gallery" window would appear. We had it checked in a
shop and they told us that our memory card was infected with a virus.
The
only solution was to purchase a new one. Now before buying a new card
i'd
like to exhaust all available options... I tried turning the phone on
and
off ...removing the memory card then turning it on....removing the
battery
and re-installing...almost brought it to church to cast out the evil
spirit within..nothing. So as a last resort before finally purchasing a
memory card, im asking if you guys have some remedy for this. Have to
do
this, you know memory cards aren't as cheap as candies here in manila.
Thanks a ton!

havn't come across this problem personally ... man .. sounds evil :/

My only other thought is to try the MMC card in another device and see if you can read it there .. if not the card itself will be buggered ...

the other thing .. is have you had it near a big magnet ? IE non shielded speaker ?

cause that would do it ..

Tried the memory card in another device and still the same thing. It IS definitely evil. Thought about it if i had my fone near such devices but no, haven't had it near speakers or such. Guess we're off to buy a new card. Thanks for the help anyways!

"infected with a virus".?
that doesn't sound right.

more likely it's been physically damaged. by either rough treatment, or one of the devices it's been in.

it sounds to me like it is physically damaged.
why do you think it's not?

perhaps there is a nokia 6600 virus that causes it to frys MMC cards - then i'd be concerned about where you got it and whether it will happen again. but what that shop told you just doesn't add up.

so, the card does reformat successfully? what did you use to format it?

Nokia 6600's can contract ANY virus that a PDA, Palmtop on ANY smartphone can contract because it runs on an operating system like your computer does. It is called "Symbian OS" and sadly it is open to viruses which are downloadable from the net and through your E-Mail on your phone. Try this, see if you can find someone that has a MMC card reader on their computer and format it using the FAT file format. Then put it into your phone and go to your menu and go to extras then to memory and format it from there. If anyone says that it is impossible or not likely that your phone has got a virus, they are wrong. If fact, on a smartphone that operates on an operating system, you are just as likely to pick up a virus from the net on your phone, as you are browsing the net on your computer. I hope I helped. If not, its a new card. Sorry.
