Hi...

I didn't know which forum to post this to, so I put it here (even though I'm using an IPAQ 1940).

I have copied 394 MB of MP3 files onto a (supposedly new... got from EBay) SanDisk 512 MB SD memory card. I have 88 MB free. When I try to copy more onto this card, I get a message saying the card is full. I downloaded Flash Format and reformatted the card, but it didn't make any significant difference.

Why do I have 88 MB free, but I can't write to the card?

FYI - The memory utility says:

Storage Card:
Total storage card memory: 483.63 MB
In use: 394.72 MB
Free: 88.91 MB

IPAQ File Store:
In use: 0 MB
Free: 13.24 MB

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Dolly

What is the format used to in this card? FAT16, FAT32? Remember that FAT16 has a limit of number of files in th root folder.

You can create as many files as you want in any folder, but the number of folders and files in the root is limited...

Thanks loads! I didn't know about the limit on the number of files in the root for FAT16 formatted cards. I moved everything to a folder and that did the trick.

Thanks again!

Glad to know it's working... The FAT16 limit is an heritage from older times... Like the 640KBytes limit in previous versions of some OS.
