Any new OS's, progress on meego, progress on nemo etc.
Love my N9, but just wish there was more happening development wise for it. The dev communities seems really spread out and difficult to find.
Nitdroid seems to be making more headway, but it still is not usable. Also Nemo/mer still seems to be going, but development is all underground, not much in the open. Not seen much else really. anyone else found anything?

Not expecting anything official. I think they totally disbanded the meego team after PR1.3 anyway. Interesting how meego elements are making their way into Windows phone and especially nokia windows phones though. Was more thinking along the lines of community development.

The maemo.org site might be your best bet if you're not already following that one:

They have a N9/N950 forum:

These guys have developed Meego into Sailfish.  http://jollatides.com/

I started a thread here about them. http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=11&topicid=129488

In some respects, MeeGo is the most talked about mobile OS that never really existed. Nokia MeeGo Harmattan, as used in the N9 was just Maemo 6 renamed to MeeGo 1.0 and never really made into full Meego - for example it retained the deb/dpkg package manager instead of moving to RPM, which "proper" MeeGo was meant to use. Many discussions on talk.maemo.org like these:
http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=44664
http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=44597

Perhaps it was called MeeGo for some marketing reasons or maybe to keep Intel or the Linux Foundation happy. In any case it had a close relationship with the Maemo used on the Nxxx series tablets and phones and perhaps not as close to the MeeGo design goals as it might appear.

Sailfish on the other hand, keeps and improves on many of the N9 user interface ideas, but under the hood there are big changes:

If someone is looking for some new OS to run on the N9, perhaps Nemo (as mentioned by the thread starter) is worth a look.

But if people want to run Sailfish, I'm not sure if the N9 is the best option, perhaps some Android phone hardware is the way to go.... more info here but I didn't read it all.
