Has anyone here used "Mail for Exchange" to synchronise their Nokia smartphone with an Exchange server? I have a few questions which I would rather have answered by a user rather than Nokia. Thanks.

I am interested to know as well... The only experience I have so far with Symbian synchronising to an Exchange Server is on my test Sony Ericsson M600i using RoadSync. It's a shame the default e-mail client on Symbian UIQ can only see the Inbox. I have lots of rules moving e-mails to specific folders and those are not synchronised to this device.

The Windows Mobile Outlook Mobile client can see the entire Exchange mailbox folder structure and select individual folders for synchronisation.

Nokia has IntelliSync software that basically act as an Exchange ActiveSync client on the Nokia devices.

But does it support the Direct Push protocol for push e-mail or is it simply an Exchange connector for the Nokia synchronisation?

Can it synchronise more than one folder? Can you see more than one folder on a Nokia S60?

That's my main question too, I'm real keen on getting an E90 (pre-ordered one with Expansys yesterday) but I would like to move to an Exchange mail server and have E90 plus OWA plus Outlook client at home all working nicely together.

I currently use 2 GoDaddy email accounts via POP3 with Outlook and my 6680, with the 6680 set to leave messages on the server but thats reliant on me killing Outlook before I leave home. I will try IMAP to get around this when I have a PC with Outlook again (next week or 2) but Exchange would be the ultimate. My 2 email accounts are for nomal emails in one and email groups / lists in the other so I would like to point those both to one Exchange account and have them filtered into 2 folders (or at least an Inbox folder and a folder for the email lists).

I emailed ZeroOne / AnywhereExchange yesterday to ask if they have any experience with Mail for Exchange and their reply was that they played with an E61 but it would only synch the Inbox, not the other folders, as you have just alluded to :-( It seems to be a severe limitation to me!!

With IntelliSync you need to have software running on the Exchange server as well don't you? That gets tricky when I'm looking at having to pay for the service from the likes of Mail2Web or AnywhereExchange.

Well.. from what I read from Nokia's IntelliSync whitepaper, you'll be in for major disappointment in terms of its support for Exchange. It's two steps forward for Nokia to get the license to use Exchange ActiveSync for PIM, but it has done so unorganised way that its technology or implementation is lacking from Microsoft's WM.

If you want full Exchange support on mobile devices, best go with WM devices, sad to suggest that especially if you're a long-time-Nokia-user. I was a Nokia user but their half-ass support for Outlook sync conduit is crappy, and fed up and decided to leap onto WM and never regret since.

IntelliSync Mail for Exchange doesn't need any server configuration on Exchange, as it is communicate using Exchange ActiveSync's protocol. But as you may have heard from ZeroOne, it doesn't do more than 1 folder sync.

From: http://www.businesssoftware.nokia.com/intellisync_wireless_email_downloads.php I read "The use of Nokia Intellisync Wireless Email software requires an Nokia Intellisync Mobile Suite server to be in place within your company." to mean that the Nokia suite software will need to be installed server side?
