it seems my test account expired before I could try this out.... can you use the phone and browse the internet (gprs/3g) at the same time on the Treo 750?  Can you use it as a gprs/3g USB modem/Bluetooth modem while on the phone?

According to my information the Treo750 has GPRS class 10, which means you can't talk and surf simultaneously. If you place or receive a call during an active GPRS session, the data connection will be hold for the time of the call.
However on 3G networks you can always talk and surf simultaneously, as this is part of the UMTS-specifications afaik.

Regarding the behaviour towards your computer, the Treo750 will always appear as modem under Windows, but data connections will fail while phoning.

The reason why the Treo 750v on GPRS won't have voice calls and packet switch is not because of the GPRS Class 10, but because it's a Class B device. Only devices Class A would allow simultaneous voice and data calls on GPRS, but no one ever implemented that.

You are correct though regarding 3G usage. The Treo 750v follows the standard and is capable of data and voice calls - but only on the device. It won't support simultaneous voice and data when used as a modem for another data terminal such as a PC.

However this will change when you upgrade it to Windows Mobile 6. You see, with Windows Mobile 5 you use it as a modem, either via USB or via Bluetooth. Windows Mobile 6 it actually has a new Internet Sharing functionality, and the connection is established on the device itself, and shared to another terminal. In this case it will be possible to have both voice and data on 3G connections since it's IP sharing, not a device sharing.
