I have just upgraded to Vista and trying to sync my Imate K-Jam (running Windows Mobile 5).

I am using the latest version of Windows Mobile Centre. Have uninstalled and reinstalled several times.

Problem: The PC can see my device however whenever it syncs it comes up with an error and does not sync the 2 devices.

The only time it will sync is when i deselect any of the PIM items such as Contacts, Calendar and Tasks. If anyone of these is selected the error comes back and no sync.

Any help please!!!

Are you running Windows Live OneCare? It's not compatible with WMDC. Also check firewall rules - those will "break" synchronisation.

Make sure you are using a USB port, not a USB Hub. Power is very important during synchronisation.

Take 2..

Hi Freitasm,

Thanks for the quick response... but I solved it before i saw your suggestion.

The answer for all those people whose forums i have read having this same problem!!!

All i ended doing was in Outlook, goto the Help and then to Office Diagnostics (Office 2007) or Detect & Repair (pre 2007)

It found some problem with the database, (it wouldnt say what) and repaired it.

I tried to sync all parts of my device, including, Calendar and Contacts, with success!!!! :)

I knew it wasnt my device... at least it is working now

ActiveSync works only on Windows XP. For Windows Vista you must use WMDC though.
