Hi There!

Anyone aware if MS runs a similar promotion to Android and IOS where they have a free app of the day which works with MS Tablets like RT? Or a site that lists discounted apps etc?

I am disappointed by how few apps there are compared to the Android or IOS base, and most of it's charged for, when the equivalent app is free for IOS/Android or both....

Also unless I am blind, I can't see any way to login to the Windows Store from my desktop, select an App and have it remotely install to my RT Tablet, as I can with both my IOS and Android devices....

there's currently not a way to do that

You can browse the Store with the web, ie http://apps.microsoft.com/windows/en-nz/app/windows-8-handbook/283f362e-b936-448f-8379-b66a39698dd9 but you need to install manually unless you're using a Mobile Device Management product

On a more serious note, the apps I want most are free...

Which apps you are looking for that are paid on this ecosystem but free in others?

Login to windowsphone.com, find the app you want and below the image you will have a INSTALL or REINSTALL button.

Right now I am talking about Windows RT, but I thought the point was that Metro Apps were all MS device compatible if they were based on W8+?

Angry Birds was one I went looking for over the weekend (I thought my kids could migrate to my RT since I am upgrading my android tablet and have my old one for sale) , I have 5 editions on my Android tab, none of which I had to pay for (Some have micro purchases inside them), but there were a couple of others I can't recall off the top of my head...

Your subject was "Windows Mobile" and this is the Windows Phone forum... So the topic is in the wrong forum and you put the wrong title.

The apps come from different "stores". At some point in the future they may merge these stores. But now they are separate.

To be honest, the micorsoft store seem to have a lot of the apps that I am looking for, and most of them are free that I want. With android, I find that a lot of them have advertising on them, or freemium. Things like lastpass is free to use on the surface rt, where you need a paid subscription to use it on ios/android.

But I too would be interested to know which apps are on special or free for a limited time with the microsoft store. I have found a few that were free for a limited period of time, such as a PDF editor, but you wouldn't know unless you viewed the apps details prior to downloading. IOS seem to have the best deals and limited time free apps, and obviously they have the best selection of good apps, with android a bit behind that. There isn't so much with android that is free for a limited time.

Err I wasn't talking about phones, specifically right now I want RT apps, but I just assumed it was all one place.

What happens if you have multiple devices? Does it offer you a choice of which device to deploy to?

Yes if you have multiple Windows Phone registered against the same Microsoft Account, you can choose which phone will get the app you bought or obtained free, through the website

Windows Phone is on http://windowsphone.com

Windows 8 Pro and Windows 8 RT are on http://windows.microsoft.com/en-NZ/windows-8/apps

Easiest way is Store on device.

Windows Store is currently separate, as Mauricio mentioned
