It seems the only difference is the first one contained a file title NasaRUU_ReleaseNote.doc with HTC notes in it. The second one does not have this file. Aside this, everything else is the same size...
Received this from HP today... It seems they want us to update the H397x again...
"Dear HP Customer,
Thank you for contacting HP eServices.
This is with reference to your e-mail regarding the ROM update on the H3900 series.
Unfortunately, we do not have details regarding the differences
between the Softpaq SP22945 and SP23477. We do not get this information since it is HP confidential.
However, it is necessary to update the iPAQ again. So we request
that you update the iPAQ again from the following link:
We are sorry that we could not assist you with the differences in the Softpaq.
Please e-mail us if you need any clarification and we will be glad to help."
"That was for the H5450 ROM, HP even released a hotfix and a ROM update later...
The H3970 is the same ROM file, only a .doc was removed from the .zip. The .doc contained HTC's internal notes "
Actually the 545X has not had a ROM update yet, unless you know someone at Hp. The non 397X, or the version without bluetooth where released with the 300Mhz processor downgrade, some people also thought that the same thing was done to the 397X. Also there where some reports of it being posted and pulled and reposted and pulled again. As I recalled Hp pulled both the 397X and the 39XX versions. Just what Hp thought they where doing I don't know, I'll give them the benfit of doubt, and say they pulled both to be sure both didn't effect the processor speed. If you are correct and the only change is a text file, doesn't seem like it makes a lot of sense to call that Hp confidential, and then include it.
There are two patches that take up ram, for the 545X. I don't know of any rom updates for it, yet. Doing a hard reset requires that they be reloaded.
