V 12 has been released, this version has the long-awaited EGPS and its amazing. I can get a lock within seconds and maintain it while walking around inside the house.
Havent checked any other features yet and have not seen a changelog.
Be aware you will need to change your product code to download the upgrade and its a big download, 100+MB.

It will almost certainly have the old firmware, proceed with caution before updating as it will probably void your warranty!

Wait until the new firmware will be available for all product codes. Then you dont need to change and will not void the warranty.

I have the VF variant N95 and the new firmware is not available for this variant yet. Normally it takes few weeks.

The new firmware is awesome. It now tells you if you are on the HSDPA network by showing 3.5G, like how it shows 3G when in UMTS 3G coverage.

Ah cheers, just what i wanted to hear, was afraid due to the fact vodafone customises (removes voip...) they would be lazy and just prevent firmware updates. I can wait a few weeks, no problem

Actually if you have the latest Nokia PC Suite on your computer and you connect your phone sometimes, it will tell you when the new firmware available for your phone.

Which product code did you have to change your phone to to be able to download the upgraded firmware? I have an N95 that has product code 0548446 (bought from HK) and it has firmware 10.0.018 at present. The Nokia updater says there are no updates available if I use their 'update' app.

My product code is 0548986, bought from PI.
I changed it to 0536062 which is the Euro one, did the update and then changed it back again.
Do not try to restore backups to your phone after you do this, re-install apps from scratch.
Another thing I have discovered, apart from the huge improvement in satellite lock and coverage, is that the camera no longer jumps to max sharpness setting when you change any other setting, finally!

I have an imported handset, so I can't comment definitively on the Vodaphone-branded one, but its likely that the V11 Firmware is the latest available. I haven't upgraded to the V12 yet, although I believe it is available for Asia-models, but for branded handsets there is typically a delay until the firmware is available.

Incidentally, have you tried making a VOiP call from your branded handset? I haven't heard yet whether Vodafone NZ has disabled this feature with their custom Firmware, as they did in the UK (but not OZ).

Vodafone NZ is not disabling the VoIP function in the N95s or let's say it in the other way: you can still use standalone VoIP applications.
I have a Voda N95 and I am using Fring, which is so far the best VoIP application for this phone. You can use Skype, GoogleTalk, MSN,SIP and Twitter services with Fring.

When I arrive home my phone connects to our WLAN, then people can call me on my phone thru Skype.
