Yeah, carriers can be pesky when it comes to certifying upgrades for devices... they tend to focus more energy on new devices (new revenue!). Go figure... :-)

But the WM6 upgrade for the 750v is indeed close at hand... not long now.

Insider...I hope you're right.

Mind you...I haven't heard of it being available anywhere else round the world for the 750v other than the usual reports from March this year which said it was coming.

There was some guy over at xda-developers.com that thought it might be 3rd quarter of July (Below)

e to palm on there chat website. the tech told me it will be released in the 3rd quarter of this month. but would not give me a date."

Hmmm quite easy to get bored with stuff even if it is a business machine.

Quite like the idea of a business model iphone if it had all the bits.

Anyways..

Have a good weekend dudes.

Vodafone annoys me these days. Try this. You will have an AT&T ROM. Not sure you can install the Vodafone ROM afterwards.

Just installed. It will automatically configure the Vodafone New Zealand connecitons for you, and it enables HSDPA as well.

You have some AT&T links in the Internet Explorer Mobile and the Programs, but you can just delete the shortcuts.

Now, this is really neat. I hope Vodafone doesn't remove this feature from their version of Windows Mobile 6 for the Palm Treo 750v:

You can control your voice mail playback on the screen, using the directional pad. It works really well with the Vodafone New Zealand voice mail system.

Hadn't noticed that.. Will go have a play!!! :)

I did like the charging over USB though, bluetooth transfers also seem a heck of a lot faster!

Charge over USB? I always had my Treo 750v charging over USB... What is this you are talking about?

This update also seems to fix the problems with the miniSD card being "lost" now and then, requiring a soft reset. It's all good now.

C'mon Vodafone, where's the official update now?

Guys,

Can I suggest that installing the ATT ROM is a REALLY, REALLY BAD IDEA. You will NOT be able to run the official VF updater when it arrives as it will do version checks. I won't even mention what installing a pirated ROM does to your warranty...

As for the VM controls - you can enable them TODAY in the base WM5 750v ROM by turning on a checkbox...

WM5 does trickle (sub 100mA) charging, and you don't get any visual cues. WM6 does proper USB charging (500mA), and you get blinky lights and UI cues.

Unless you want to create a rod for your own back might I suggest you wait just a little longer for the OFFICIAL version...

Cheers,
