i would like to hear opinions if antivirus+firewall is useful for symbian phone? anyone has their symbian phone infected viruses?

A firewall is a program to block connections, usually over a network. This concept has been deformed by companies developing "firewall" for mobiles including things such as SMS filters, which is really not a firewall thing, but ok, let's accept it, it blocks SMS from certain numbers, or certain actions.

Most malware for Symbian are exactly like the ones for PCs: you have to act on them to have them installed. So someone send you a new cracked game. What are the chances of a cracked game being contamined with malware? I would say 100%. So if you accept the game, well, you are aware of the risks...

Just follow common sense and download only software from original retailers and you should be ok.

true, i understand that. since im new to symbiann (currently use s60 3rd edition feature pack 1), im not too sure how safe it is. i use it a lot to surf websites. so, f-secure mobile security (firewall + antivirus) that comes with my phone is not worth it? i will uninstall it after the trial period then. i dont have much time yet to explore it

Well, i wouldn't go that far. I don't believe its possible to write anything that has zero vulnerabilities. In practical terms, providing you avoid installing hacked software or other software where you are not certain of its source, there is no need for an anti-virus for 3rd Edition devices.

I wouldn't think you should buy it It is not really necessary in a country where half of nz population don't really use bluetooth I believe.

Even if they do I doubt they have sensivite information.Nz is a small country.No point of hijacking
