Hi,
I'm a new Ipaq user, with a HP5550. I took it with me on a weekend trip, but forgot to take the little adaptor that connects the power directly to the unit. So it all went dead.
Thing is, I have had it on charge all last night. It is not showing any lights, and will not switch on. I have tried removing and reinserting the battery - nothing. Can someone help?
Many thanks

Have you tried just a soft reset to see if if restarts? Otherwise you might ask a store and insert a battery from a display unit to see if it works. Then you'll rule out if the problem lies on the Pocket PC or the battery.

Soft reset doesn't work. I'll try the battery change idea tomorrow. Thanks.
Can you also advise on how to do a hard reset on this model?

You do a hard reset by simultaneously pressing and holding button number 1 and 4 (the lower buttons placed to the sides of the navigation knob). While pressing button 1 and 4 you insert your stylus into the reset-hole at the bottom of the unit. Remove the stylus only when the display is completely black (usually takes 3-4 seconds).

You have done a succesfull hard reset if you cannot turn on the unit by pressing the on/off button.

To turn on the unit, now do a soft reset.

If you still have problems doing the hard reset, the refer to the manual page 1-9.
