As my Xda iis cradle has just gone on the blink I thought it would present no real problem as I could just use bluetooth to sync with Outlook 2003....  Not so easy!

I bought a bluetooth dongle (v2.0) which has installed fine - it sees my xda too but there is no connection as such and synchronising is impossible.  All I can identify is that the com ports specified in WMDC and on the Xda itself are different and I can't find any way of altering either of them!

Both are discoverable and if I try to search from the Xda it comes back with service discovery unsuccessful - requested service not running on this device....  but I've tried every conceivable combination without success.  It/they does/do go through the passkey exchange stages quite happily.

I was able to set up a personal network but I think this is does not seem to lead me towards any kind of synchronisation.

So my pc sees the Xda and vice versa but that's as far as I get - any ideas, folks?

Cheers,   Mark

It seems like something wrong with ur bt dongle.
What software it work with? The IVT or the vista bluetooth manager?

The COM ports on the Xda and on the PC have no need to be matched. What I've noticed when using the WMDC is that you must set its Connection Settings to allow Bluetooth connections.

Unlike ActiveSync, which required the pairing to be done from your Pocket PC, WMDC is not the same. You can pair from your PC if you want. Just make sure after pairing that you open the Bluetooth icon corresponding to the Pocket PC or Smartphone and check that it has an ActiveSync service listed.

This is done on the PC now, not on the Pocket PC.

I have three devices here and I followed this. It's very different from ActiveSync, which requred you to create a COM port on your PC, add it to ActiveSync on your Connection Settings and only then initiate the pairing from your device.
