I am interested to learn a bit more of MfE 2.0 on Nokia E-series phones. The curiousity part of me is on about how well it handle contacts from Exchange ActiveSync, via MfE 2.0.

If all is great, I may be looking at getting either E55 or E65, though E55 looks a lot more stylish. This of course is in no way to replace my imate Jasjam, but more so to compliment my usage for say when we're out about in the weekend and just need a small-light phone.

Let us know how you get on getting Mail for Exchange working, I gave up in disgust, Roadsync just worked in 10 minutes, Roadsync works A1, exactly as Active sync on Smartphone

I am using Mail for Exchange 2.0 with Exchange 2003 - just upgraded the other day. Have used 1.3 & 1.6 in the past.

The only problems I have had were with version 1.3 - it used to stall and required a power cycle to re-establish sync'ing.

I used to have an iMate Jamin, but hated its stability and bulk that I upgraded to the E65. What amazed me the most was how much easier it was to setup the Nokia than it was the crappy Microsoft based phone - go figure.

The phone sync's great and I much prefer it over my iMate. No issues with Exchange 2003 - only trick is installing the self-signed cert if you use one, but there's plenty of help on the net for that.

Hope this helps.

Thanks mate, sounds quite positive and looks like the Exchange Activesync licensing works well for other non-WM devices nowaday.

I may be interested in getting a Nokia E51 (not E55 as stated eariler in the start of the thread). With my JasJam, I have difficulty to configure an SSL connection despite having to install Self-Signed Cert, it works for a good while, then all sudden, it got flaky and doesn't work over SSL anymore... So even today, I have SSL disabled just so I can at least get connection - I know I should be more security-minded but if it doesn't give stable connection then it has to go to get some level of connection).

Oh, so the Nokia E65's phone book, it synches with Exchange 2003's contact well? How are the fields mapped?

You can seperately control what items you sync. ie Mail, Contacts, Calendar.  I do the whole lot.

I'm not sure exactly what fields it maps, but looking at my contacts on the phone it has:
First name
Last name
Company
Job title
Mobile
Telephone
Telephone (business)
Fax
Fax (business)
E-mail
E-mail (home)
E-mail (business)
Web address
Street
City
Country/Region
Street (home)
Postal/ZIP (home)
City (home)
Ctry./Reg. (home)
Street (business)
City (business)
Ctry./Reg. (bus.)
Birthday
Note

Doesn't seem to do Anniversary or Spouse/Partner but apart from that it certainly has everything I need.
