Microsoft has started rolling out a new Windows Phone update to its range of Lumia devices. Dubbed Lumia Denim, the latest update brings some significant camera improvements to the Lumia 830, Lumia 930, Lumia Icon, and Lumia 1520. The first noticeable change is a new Lumia Camera app that launches faster and takes photos more quickly. Microsoft’s Lumia 1520 has a more than capable camera, but the slowness of capturing photos often lets it down, and this update is designed to address that.

Testing is still ongoing to with the local operators. Being that we're into the holiday season we will now see the local updates available early next year now.

The camera is a lot better, more detail and its quicker taking photos. IE has a couple of different options now for conserving data usage, and my galley live tile says photos and looks different :-)

I have a spare Lumia 520 which I am palying around with.  It has the 8.1 dev preview on it.  Interestingly, yesterday after I'd done a factory reset of it, the Extras + Info screen said it was running Lumia Denim.  But when I checked it a bit later after a few updates, it had reverted to Lumia Cyan.  This makes me think that Denim is baked into the dev preview in some way.

It is not baked into DP. There is a bug in last extra + info app update which shows users have Denim but they do not. Had the exact same issue with my 1520. I flashed my 1520 with a Denim updatable ROM from Finland 2 days ago and now I am running it. The camera quality, speed and feature improvements are really good. I turned off 'Hey Cortana' though.
