Finally the Samsung Ativ S i8750 update is available. I am with 2degrees and I updated yesterday morning.
Phone appears to run smoother with no lag.
Also boots up quicker.... Small things like a notification bar make life a lot easier.
I checked for updates and it is there.

Cool, something to do when I am off. Flash back to GDR2 then let it update from the NZC CSC. Will be interesting to see if there is in fact anything different. I forced it by changing CSC, but there is still a tiny bit of weirdness about it like time zones wont select properly if I leave it on auto. Very impressed with 8.1.1 on this phone though. It works great.

Well, I got updated to 8.1 on a 2Degrees handset which had a Telecom sim in it at the time (and still does), not sure if that counts though.

No, I'm not that adventurous. It was not long before Christmas, got bored, checked and there it was. It downloaded and installed maybe 5 updates for 8.0. Think I manually checked again for 8.1 and it installed that as well (well 8.1.1 I think).

Ok, thanks for the info. I'm on the preview. I might try downgrade and see if the official update is there for Telecom phones.

I guess that would be the best way, bearing in mind what Nathan said above - that my update apparently came from 2Degrees anyway.

FWIW my Telecom Ativ-S hasn't received WP8.1 over the air yet

I'm on the official WP8 ROM as supplied by Telecom, fully patched by phone update, so can't recall if that is Update 3 right now

I guess you would know if you got the Windows 8.1 download to your phone, why you would see it in settings - about phone..
I know 2degrees provided mine, I had to update manually and it did its thing.
Spark may add their own crap ware, that's could be the holdup. 2degrees doesn't add any of their stuff.
Good luck

I'm on Telecom/Spark with the Ativ S and I am on the latest release they provide, which is unfortunately GDR 2.
I just tried contacting them via their online chat, but as expected I wasn't able to get hold of anyone who could comment on when 8.1 might be released.
The long wait continues...
