Hi,

I am looking at the possibility of tethering one Windows Mobile Device to another Windows Mobile device.

I have a request/question into PDAnet and have checked with tech support at HTC, they do not have a solution.

My PDA with data plan is HTC P4000 (same as HTC Mogul) minus the internet sharing (this still have wModem). The device I want the to use the P4000's internet connection is the HTC X7501 Advantage (5" screen is appealing).

Has anyone else tried to had any success with this configuration. I investigated adding a SIM to Advantage (we get raped for data plans in Canada), this is why I want to use existing EVDO device to tether.

Any suggestions.

Thanx

Dave

Sorry, I don't think you will find a solution for this...

Thank You for your prompt reply.

I have a sneaking feeling you are correct, however, I did get a reply back from PDAnet suggesting it may be able to be done with bluetooth DUN with their software?

I do not have both devices, I have asked them if they have multiple devices to test.

I appreciate the marketplace for this software is small, however, the HTC Advantage has the huge 5" screen and does offer a "tweener" box between a PDA and laptop.

Longer term maybe someone with look at a Foleo type device that connects to all PDA's or have some communications ability to some form of external display (I am guessing Bluetooth does not have the bandwidth today to drive a larger display plus the issues of trying to display your PDA screen on larger screen!!!

Thank You

Dave

Only if PDANet can provide a DUN client - which I am not sure is in their software currently...

This is the email reply from PDAnet:

Hi Dave,

You can try to enable Bluetooth DUN under Pdanet and then pair with the other device and dial #777. I am not sure if that works on these phones but you need to see for yourself.

Thanks,

Does this look feasible?

Might be worth following this thread:

Idea is to make the phone a wifi access point, then you could connect the other phone to it.

Mattnzl,

Does this require "internet sharing" to be installed on device?

Although my device has WM6, the carrier opted to install wModem vs Internet Sharing.

It does require internet sharing, is this application available without a ROM update?
