I'm new to all this wireless stuff and would like a bit of aid. Following articles on this site I've managed to connect my 2215 to XP pro on my laptop. I can do all those things like active sync etc but I would like to run my laptop with the ipaq. As bluetooth realistically only has a 10m radius it seems a bit stupid as I could have the laptop on my lap and run it from there but...I have plans.

So, I can connect using TSC and get the log on screens etc. I have set myself up with an extra user account and specified a password. When I enter these on the login screen on the 2215 it logs out XP and goes to the welcome screen!! and I have to log back in to XP. Also the TSC has ended. If I start again it does exactly the same.

Does anyone have any ideas? Is this the right forum? Should I post it in the Ipaq? Oh hell, I think I will anyway.

You can try PocketVNC instead...

I've just tested this now. If I use the same user account my session is not terminated. My computer is automatically locked when I log using TSC, but the session remains active. When I disconnect from my iPAQ I just have to enter my password to unlock the computer.

If you log as another user it'll logoff your current user.

Wouldn't mind pocketvnc as I have used it with success on desktops but the version I have on the Ipaq says 'This is not a valid 32 bit application' and simply won't run. I'm not sure it's the right pocketVNC version though.

With TSC I log in on the Ipaq using the same login as XP but it logs out on the laptop back to the welcome screen and kills the TSC on the ipaq and disconnects the bluetooth connection. There is only 1 account running on XP.

Do you know of a "Guide to Running TSC on an Ipaq for the Completely Stupid". I can't see where I could have gone too wrong as it connects (because of the login screen on the Ipaq). As there is only one account running it shouldn't flick me out.

I've scored a copy of Citrix but that looks even harder than TSC.

Cheers for all your help by the way.

What kind of connection to your desktop (notebook) you use?
Is it "Network with Blabla" or "Internet via Blabla"?

A couple of things...

1. The user account your using to access the XP Pro box via TSC/Remote Desktop must have Administrator privileges or be a member of the Remote Desktop Users Group AND have a password...

http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/Windows/XP/all/reskit/en-us/pree_rem_hzcq.asp

2. Here is a KB article that describes how Remote Desktop login behaves for different users, etc...

3. Make sure the XP Pro desktop does NOT have the Group Policy for client connections set for High security. It must be set for either Client Compatible or the default which is Not configured.

4. Lastly here is a short tutorial that may, or may, be of interest...
