Greetings,
I have been struggling with certificate issues recently on my e65, but the scope of this question is somewhat broader. I support clients who have a combination of smartphones - primarily Imates: Jasjams smartflips, Kjams and I also have a few e65's in the mix. I am using a combination of Roadsync on the e65's and would try Nokias M4E again but that choked on the SSL (or lack of it)..obviously it's activesync on the imates.
My issue is that as far as I can tell, the easiest way to get these devices working quickly using SSL is to buy a certificate from a root CA. Am I going to get a smoother ride with one of these than with a self-signed certificate? Please correct me if I have got this wrong.. I want to avoid amongst other things the 'unsafe' warning in IE7 with OWA. I got a trial of rapidssl and the OWA issue was easy to fix, but if my clients are going to shell out real money I want to get the certificate that has has the broadest application whilst not breaking the bank - that puts the Verisigns out of contention I guess. A few hundred dollars will be OK a thousand probably not...
As always, thank for reading and for any guidance you can offer.
Rod.
