Hi,

Last night the wi-fi part of my N95 seems to of given up. I was having a play around with mgmaps then it kept asking me what access point do I want to use.
I tried the normal web-browser but it keeps coming up wlan not found, yet the phone can detect my Wireless access point and what encryption its running.
I'm using a Netgear DG834 adsl wireless router on WEP 64 encryption.
I've tried re-defining the access point which doesn't seem to work, tried changing the network encryption with no luck, even tried setting the whole access point up manually (manually entered IP settings) which doesn't work either. I saw a suggestion on the Nokia forums to turn powersaving off but that hasn't solved the problem either.
Have tried doing a factory reset as well with no luck, only thing I've not tried doing yet is flashing the firmware but I believe I am running the latest version (v 12.0.013)
Can anyone suggest some other ideas?

standard access using 3g seems to still work fine.

Thanks.

Have your also factory reset the Netgear? Also, check it has the latest firmware too. I'd also recommend using WPA-PSK, rather than WEP. It is more secure, and easier to setup.

I was running the latest rom.
I reflashed it all anyway and problem solved.
It appears the ROM can get corrupted

What OS are you running? Any chance a silent patch roll-out has nerfed the connection? Perhaps try rolling back your computer to a date when it was definitely working and try it again?

On a bright note, I just sorted my own connectivity issues out with my new Linkys WRT54G router, just needed a simple firmware upgrade to the router and now everything is going along swimingly - N95, Wii, PC and Mac all happily going about their business wirelessly. . .

Oh and since on the topic, has anyone had issues with N95 and Linksys WAG54GP2 ? When at my friends house, it has connection issues. You start web browsing, then it just stops midway loading a page, then that's it, still connected, but no data flow. I also have issues using Truphone on this Linksys device too. NB: the Linksys has been swapped out, and my N95 firmware has been upgraded to latest version, but neither has fixed the issue.

My N95 seems to connect fine on any other Wireless router I have tried.

I was wondering if a hard reset would be a good idea, shall try it tonight when I get home to see if that helps.
I walked past a telecom store at lunchtime as most have a wireless hotspot, the wlan wizard didn't detect anything (telecom centre place hamilton)

Its ironic tho, I found a changelog for the latest firmware and it says "connection problems to netgear routers fixed"

In regards to anything Linksys I would suggest checking if a newer firmware is available. I had a look through a few of their driver updates, not just the WRT54G, and almost all of them say that bugs with DHCP and UnPNP implementation were addressed. Looks like Linksys has had a tendency to release buggy initial firmwares around these functionalities.

With regards to the Netgear, most people had success by going to the access point in Tools--->Settings--->Connections--->Access Points---> select access point--->Options--->Advanced--->IvP4 and manually inputting the IP addy, Subnet Mask and Gateway.

If you don't them then in your PC go to Start--->Run--->enter cmd--->enter ipconfig/all     - it will tell you all the information you require.

Oh, and do use WPA protection, WEP is useless. With WPA choose AES as the encryption method on the router, N95 appears to have some problems with TKIP.

Interesting, I'd prefer to use AES, but a lot of slightly older hardware etc doesn't support it, so TKIP has been an easier to deploy option. I'll have a play with AES on the Linksys tho.

I don't seem to be having any luck getting wi-fi going.
I've tried a hard reset, no luck, even tried re-flashing the firmware..no luck.
Have reset the firmware on the netgear router and upgraded to wpa-psk security.
the Wlan wizard can't find any wireless access points, however when I set the web browser to ask which access point to use, I get it to search for wlans and it can sucessfully find the wireless network, even asks for the key. However after entering the key I get the error WLAN: cannot connect to network, network not found. Yet its def there as the phone is next to me and I'm using wireless on the laptop. I saw a tip on a nokia forum about power saving, I've turned it off but still does nothing.

Hmm, interference maybe? Try different channel numbers on the Netgear. Also, turn off any other 2.4GHz wireless device you have, such as bluetooth, cordless phones etc. Can't remember if you mentioned, but can you connect successfully from your N95 to other wifi networks?

tried all of the above, even tried picking up the telecom wi-fi spot in centre place (hamilton) today with no luck either
its weird, only died last night while playing with mgmaps, have deleted that app but didn't fix it
something in it must be working as it can detect the wireless lan and detect the encryption type.

The "Network not found" is something I haven't come across. When I have a chance to look some stuff up I'll get back to you.
