Hi again,

Since tomtom is lacking maps of New Zealand, im searching through the old forum threads and a few have mentioned that the navman application can be used on PPC or WM5? Can someone reconfirm this? If so, would the SmartST Navman application work on WM5?

Any advice would be appreciated.

The last time I used Navman ST it wouldn't work on Windows Mobile 5 devices because of ActiveSync. Navman uses a strange and annoying activation method that requires some connectivity through ActiveSync and it failed completely when running ActiveSync 4.x and up - let alone Windows Vista WMDC.

That is, if you can find the software.

If you visit DSE on-line and search there is a new software for Windows and Windows Mobile that lists New Zealand maps - I can't remember its name, but it should be easy to find.

Thanks for the tip once again Mauricio.

I will probably take your advice and avoid that for now.

My search goes on then....i gave gps tuner a try but similar to google maps, it seems to require constant downloading of the maps. The latest version lets you use the Map Calibrater software to sync the maps from google but it doesnt always work i find. Excellent for hiking though with the compass and all.

I guess im better off holding off until tomtom releases their NZ maps and stay with google maps for now.
