G'day...I currentlyown a Palm 750v GSM phone.

Does everything well, but I'm sick of it, even have wm6 on it, but just over using windows CE etc for the last 5 years or thereabouts.

In comes the Blackberry Curve 8310
I just had a look at one of these and think its kinda funky!
Are there any down sides to it?

I run a Windows SBS server at work and I've heard I can get mail sent to my phone from it.

Whats the best way to do this? Is it on the vodafone thingy?

What are some of the up sides to using a blackberry? I already have push email on my current phone.

If you can settle for a poorer experience - much less applications available, and seriously none of the ones for the "Blackberry Curve" I downloaded from Handango worked on the Vodafone version.

Really... Hmm, it looks very good, especially if you change the theme. What are you using now Mauricio?

I guess I'm just over WM for a while and don't want to get an iphone, don't actually like it.

The Curve is smaller and lighter than the Palm.

What else is there to look forward to in the PDA market you can think of?

Would the Curve phone be fun for 12 months?

I need some stimulation on the PDA front if you know what I mean.

Bit bored.

I was given a HTC Touch Dual during the Mobius conference. It's quite small and light - much lighter than the Treo 750v no questions asked. The sliding keypad is not bad and it's actually very good to use with T9. No Wi-Fi though, but it's no big deal.

On CDMA I have the Okta Touch (the original model, without the sliding keypad).

Hi,

I've had a couple of the WM devices and have now just received a curve for work.
My main customer engagment currently have clustered BES with Notes so the blackberry was a given.
As i'm completely new to the BB seen, i love the curve. Email direct to your phone is great if your constantly away from your desk.
Never had email to WM devices as wasn't an option in production at work
The main cool feature i think of the 8310 curve is the qwerty keyboard. Had a qwerty keyboard on the harrier but not as good.
i think the novelty of this devie will wear off in the near future, but will probably take longer than most of the phones i've had...
With the PocketPC there was the added advantage of loading WM5 and 6 (and watching grind to a halt with not enough memory). The lack of touch screen may be a nuisence, yet to be decided.
the availabilty of free good apps for the BB appears very limited (from my limited searches)
Not having access to the latest and greatest like Mauricio i couldn't comment on comparitive Windows versions.
I will say it is the best phone i've used - far better than the harrier and PocketPC phones i've had(as a phone). Only wish it had wireless....
... and Vodafone would hurry up and enable data on it...

Also consider that you can only use GPRS on the Curve, so if you ever think of using the web browser, be prepared for a torturing slow experience - and might as I tried I couldn't get Opera Mini to work on the Blackberry Curve. It downloaded and installed ok, but it wouldn't connect to the Internet, even after a couple of calls to the Vodafone team to change settings on their side.

I just changed from the 750V to a Curve, the Curve is a much better phone,

Its a shame the curve doesnt have 3G tho

havnet had any problems loading 3rd party apps onto it

GPS and google maps works very nicely together as well, even on GPRS

Placed the order, Should be here in an hour.

Going with the VF BES service to get all the email, contacts, calender thing.

Apparently there is a 4.3.1 software update due for the Pearl and the Curve which will enable video on the Curve and a few other handy things, saw it on a you tube thingy.
