If Windows 10 can't resolve the 'app-gap' on phones, my 1020 will be my last WinPhone.  The main apps missing for me now are the NZ companies (2degrees, Powershop etc), and some companies with current apps are no longer linking to them from their websites. eg Air New Zealand

Still a mystery as to why they don't link to their current app though

I've had some pretty good luck getting NZ based android apps running on W10M.

So far I've tested the following:
AirNZ
Spark
Westpac
ANZ
Trade Me

There are a few slow downs but this is a hack still so I'm sure the final rollout will be quite nice.

Probably more of a now unsupported and "Don't blame us if it doesn't work" situation, What they have said indicates that it just so happens to still be working but they wont be upgrading it if it stops working for any reason.

It's all very well for those that have W10M.  MS haven't given any ideas when W10M will be rolled out to the masses.  That said the ability to run Android apps is a positive and might help improve the chances of MS phones surviving in the market place.

Which goes to highlight the folly of developing apps when in most cases a good mobile website that you have a quick link (bookmark icon) to on you phone will do the same job.

How often do you hear of apps that stop working once an OS is updated. The companies who have apps must be continually having to spend money updating their apps for the different OS's.  No wonder they end up not bothering for some OS's and in the process piss off those customers on that OS.

Just be aware - the release I used (one before latest) was most definitely 100% a tech preview - major functionality utterly broken tech preview.

It isn't a "beta" where everything is finished and they are collecting feedback.

Mobile hotspot isn't working in the current release which is also broken in the latest Windows 10 insider build interestingly, but my only other issue has been a slow start screen load particularly after a reboot. Yeah it's not a final version but it doesn't feel too far off. It definitely feels like it's in the beta phase now.

I don't want to go back to 8.1 which is a good sign.

And we can now add the AA Roadservice app to the list of "retired" WP apps. Currently installed on my previous phone, but no longer in the store or linked from their website.
