I have recently configured my Clie TH55 to connect to the internet directly through a mobile phone. I was wondering if there is any risk in doing this without installing a firewall on the Clie (is there such a thing for a Palm?).

I would NEVER connect my PC to the internet without a firewall.

I should imagine that it is possible to hack into the palm if there is no firewall, but is there anyone actually trying to do this. I typically only stay connected for a minute or so while downloading emails. Its not something I'm losing sleep over.

Cheers

Rob

I don't think there are any service that couold be exploited on the Palm OS side. I know a couple of companies are creating Firewall products for the Pocket PC, but if there are no open port nothing could happen. Ports will not exist unless you're running a small web server or similar.
