Hi
i installed gmail mobile app  on N95 and it works fast and very nice. but i noticed its using vodafone network and am being charged for data usage.
But i set it to use WiFi connection and that's what it seems to be using. any ideas on this please ? any other setting i need to use.

btw i set it so that it'll ask me always what connection to use and it does ask and am selecting my wifi connection.
any ideas much appreciated. Thanks.

Thats sounds like a weird one, I don't use the mobile gmail application (I was using the inbuilt email part of the mesages app, but now I'm using Emoze, which is fantastic as I have a data plan now - thanks bigal for that recommendation!).

Perhaps someone else can help, but it sounds like you've set it up correctly...

Ah, thats why you're being charged then - you're giving it permission to utilise the network. You should be able to get your emails without that happening - the only reason I could think of that you would have to allow the network traffic is if your handset is branded.

My N95 is a generic version and I don't get charged for data using the Gmail app, even though I say "yes" to "allow application to use network data... etc".  After I click on that, it asks me to choose whether to use the Vodafone network or wifi.

Usually data charges are quite random and aren't perfect figures like a nicely rounded 20c charge.

Hmm, are you subscribed to podcasts?  Perhaps they are updating themselves automatically?

what does it mean dudes,
i set phone profile to offline and accessed gmail and it asked me whether i want to create offline WLAN connection and it created and was able to browse fine !!
i checked my account and there was no charge!! or should i wait couple of hours for my vodafone account refresh ?

Data charges are not in real-time.  They may charge you later.
