I tried to get Nokia MSN on my phone from:

Where it says the N95 and New Zealand are supported countries.

So why doesnt it download? (Maybe because I have N95 8gb???)

If you can't resolve it, it might be worth looking at the unified messenger client IM+. It does MSN, AOL, ICQ, Jabber and Google Talk. It costs, but MSN is introducing a charge for Symbian customers anyway.

I find it unbelievable that MS are going to charge people for using the service. I'd read about this since the launch of the software last July and the fact that MS may charge in future has never been hidden but you really have to question why they need to charge a monthly fee for using a piece of software when the user (in many instances) also has to pay mobile data charges on top!

I'll certainly be ditching the MS client and paying for one of the other clients such as IM+ that I honestly don't find as nice but may have no choice since New Zealand isn't on the rollout program at this stage anyway for direct end user billing.

This is only happening in the UK and Sweden at the moment. The official explanation is that traditionally operators have charged customers for these services but they now can't because of the data plans. So it looks like it's kind of a "license" Microsoft needs to pay operators to have the software on their networks.

There is a hacked version of the Nokia/MSN Live chat client floating around on the net - works like a charm on my N95 - quite a slick interface too - about as good as Agile messenger.

I have an official MSN one which works flawlessly on my E50 and integrates very nicely.

I have have "utterly no idea when it came from" and I also have no method in which to upload it to you as my temp pc is a stop gap machine with no USB.

sounds like the same one i got - the hack is to make the software think the n95 is something its not (like a e90)

These are not hacked or "unofficial" copies - there is only one Symbian Client and it is available to anybody using a Nokia handset. I downloaded a copy from a wbesite and installed it and it is now available from the Download menu on virtually all S60v3 Nokia's on large numbers of product codes.
