Worth upgrading to N95 8GB from N95 classic?

Hi I've got an N95 factory V12, just 2 weeks old. I'm a bit disappointed with battery life but its ok its a great phone with lot of goodies, can anyne pls tell me if its worth buying an n95 8gb? I heard teh battery, looks and goodies are better and faster, but no removable card slot? Also is there any difference between the GPS ? Is there any advantage for the 8gb over the classic one? I bought my n95 for 650 bucks brand new with 12months warranty from Vodafone, matesrates :).....worth upgrading paying about 300 bucks more for an 8gb?

Well, if you did upgrade to the 8GB version, you would be getting these extra bits:
- larger screen
- more RAM (can use multiple programmes at the same time without it saying "low memory")
- 8GB storage

The rest is pretty much standard. GPS is the same, so is the camera. The 8GB camera does NOT have a lens cover though, which to me is one of the reasons why I am not upgrading. Such a shame!

If I were you, I would stay with the current phone as it is so new.

Thanks man, reason I asked was if the new 8gb version is way awesomer than the classic, i would rather get that but need to sell the classic asap to get max cash :)

Since there is no major benefits, i'm gonna stick with the classic. I might get an 8gb sdhc memory card and put it in my phone. :) So i can still say n95 w 8gb. I have no idea whether the card will work, but i think its worth a shot. Sick of the 1GB with came with it.

Also i'm using v12, is there any way i could upgrade the firmware without voiding vodafone warranty?

Have you checked Nokia Software Updater? No new firmware for your Vodafone set? You can de-brand it but it can be a little risky. There are plenty of threads with debranding info.

Hmm, if you buy a SDHC card then your phone will be able to handle an 8GB card:)

Just to clarify - on the V20 firmware you don't get low memory errors either (or at least I have yet to, and I run Handy Taskman, RotateMe, and Emoze continuously in the background, often with GPS running and the music player - sometimes with two programs running using the GPS).

I don't really think its worth it, just get an 8GB card. Expansys have them for like $148 or around that mark. They work fine, I've had one since early December.

Get the N95 classic, with latest firmware version and demand paging it is quite better solution. Sure 8GB model indeed has the physically larger screen but resolution remains the same and therefore pixel density is terrible, Nokia has managed to stretch the crappy QVGA resolution over its limits and the only benefit of this screen is the video playback.

Yeah I know, it has the 8GB of the build in memory but at the same time it lacks the expandable memory slot and therefore I just don’t like it, memory card has the numerous benefits in comparing to flash memory, it is changeable and expandable and if ever something goes wrong with the phone you can always pull out the card and get your data back which isn’t the case with build in flash memory. Also with the microSD card slot you can boost capacity up to 12 GB at the moment and simply exchange the cards if you need more memory which again isn’t the case with the 8Gb model because you’ll always be limited to the 8GB. Actually what I would like to see is the larger flash memory chip that acts as the C drive and memory card slot as the support for this build in memory.

Furthermore the 8GB model lacks the lens protector as well as the video editor and it also has a smaller navigation keys, all in all, classic still rocks especially considering the price.

Hope that helps, sorry 4 possible messy post but I am really in hurry, my girlfriend waiting for me more than a half hour and it can be deadly dangerous for me.
