I've just got a new Vodafone NZ N95 with the product code 0547584. My firmware version is currently 12.x and the software updater program says this is the latest version available. I'd like to know if I use the method mentioned earlier to change the product code to the other NZ code, will this void the warranty?

If you can’t update yopur phone I am pretty sure it is the branded one, and that basically means that you can wait or change the product code and get the latest update. Actually it is the very suggestible to get the rid of that branded *hit.

It is quite simple, with small assistance of the NSS you can simply change the product code and than regularly update phone with generic firmware via the NSU, piece of cake believe me Wink

Thanks Teo! Phone has been updated. I used the other NZ product code (0536088) then ran the NSU and it worked first time. less than a day old and it's already been hacked!

I am getting a new vodafone nz n95 (plum) soon and was going to change the brand code. Is it ok to use the "0536062 EURO1 - Plum" code instead of the nz one?

What are the benefits of using the Euro code? I used the other NZ code and it updated the firmware to the latest available and has been fine since.

I updated using the Euro 1 Plum code last time, as it was available a little sooner. Its basically entirely the same with one small advantage - you can silence the shutter sound in the camera app by using silent mode or turning off warning tones. Occasionally useful to capture candid shots when people aren't aware they've been shot!

I've been a bit chicken to upgrade my firmware at all for fear of losing stuff.

You won't regret going to the V20 firmware, seriously the phone is infinitely better on that version. If you search my posts you'll see one with links to a very comprehensive guide on the topic. Otherwise look at symbian-freak - loads of help to be had there.

Updated to euro1 firmware, all good.
a few things though.
How do you disable the camera tone?
When I open gallery it just says loading/opening and nothing happens. Is this because I have mgmaps maps(80mb worth of maps) installed on the stock 1gb sd card I got with the n95 so it takes ages to load them all?

a couple of my mate just went and got a N95 NZ version each after playing around with my N95.
im going to perform a upgrade for them tonight. i read it on the other thread after updating the firmware i can still change the code back to the original one. what will happen if i do? will it go back to the original software?

Sorry - more Newbie stuff here - I am about to update my new Vodafone n95 to the v20 firmware but I have a question :

If I do the update to the new firmware - does it retain all the VFNZ connection settings ?
