Yep, buyer beware.  Although they don't advertise as "Nokia N95s", what the sellers are trying to do is to trick people into thinking they are genuine Nokias.  The sellers do deny this but hey, we know the truth.

TradeMe should seriously take down those auctions.

Yes the auctions should be removed. Ask the seller is this a nokia n95 or the cnet fake n95.

yea i notcied how bad it was getting a few months ago. glad i got in quick and got a genuine one. tho it wouldn't be hard to tell if a sellers "full of it" and worse comes to worse and they tell you its not fake and it is, hey presto! u got yourself a fraud case! luckily coz the n95 is so pricey it means the cops will actually look into it ...hopefully. it is rather easy to get listings for fake products taken down on trademe by simply complaining, either about the auction or the seller. so go nuts. Tongue out

If your browser supports Javascipt then the rich text editor would add this automatically. If you have the editor and it is not doing automatically just highlight the URL, click the Link button and enter the link you want there.

Dodgy, really so. I might tip off Nokia to "buy one" and prosecute the seller as they are being very vague about questions and putting up "representitive" images.

That middle one is rather convining! copying the UI and all!
The camera flash LED gives it away quickly though.

At least the first batch of them were at least called "Nokla" or "Asian touch screen version" "style of N95" and sold for much better prices.

As usual, Buyer beware. Trademe are bad at policing knock-offs, I have heard almost all the clothes and sunnies there are  just crap fakes.

hmmm i looked at those links for the fake phones and while one of them closed yesterday, the other 2 are still open for bids, the weird thing is they don't show up if you search for n95 and they're nowhere to be found when browsing mobile phones. maybe when trademe takes an auction down it still runs for awhile b4 the website updates?! ah well atleast theres no more fake ones ppl can actually search for.

No connections, I just heard back is all... They probably had quite a few notifications, maybe they only respond to the first one or something...
