As above, want to confirm some errors in the Opensource map, cheers.

A route from Whangarei to Auckland straight-lines because of some obscure fault in the map just south of Whangarei. I have pinpointed the spot where it happens but the mapping people cant see a problem.
It is fine when using Garmins NZ map and it is also fine in Mapsource but in nRoute on the laptop and Mobile XT on the N95, it straight-lines.
Can you set up a route from Whangarei south and see what you get?
Thanks.

I'm sorry but i'm not much help to you at the monent but i have been reading that there are problems with the Garmin Mobile XT and the open source maps not showing any street names or POI's correctly (Names are all abbreviated) Is this correct? Surely it would make for a poor experience with the GPS.

There is a problem with street searching at present, supposed to be fixed shortly. There is a work-around using a POI map, better than nothing. Have a look at the Open Map forum here

Hmm, looks like a good temporary fix but if i'm going to spend good money on Garmin Mobile XT i'd like it to display the road names on the screen too. I may just hold off and see if a work around comes out. One of the guys at work uses it so i'll ask him to try the route you are asking and report back any problems.

Well after spending the last few days out of the office i have talked to my workmate who didn't find any such issues with maps as you describe. He didn't look too hard at the map other than plotting the route and zooming out to see it all though. From a wide zoom the route looked fine with no discernable straight line sections.
