i've got a nz vodafone n95 classic, what would be the best option for me to update my firmware without voiding the warranty?
I know its asking too much but any help? v20 is too good and i know its out of reach for me, i just want to update and feel better getting rid of V12 firmware!!!--- i just got the 8gb card today and it works awesome!!

i don't think there is a way to update without voiding warranty because its not like you're breaking a sticker on the inside casing. you're voiding the warranty by installing new firmware and as soon as vodafone see theres new firmware its a good as void. if you do ever need to claim warranty and its possible then i guess you could downgrade your firmware?

how long is left on your warranty? i just upgraded, not too fussed about the warranty as its only one year and i only have like 3 months left on mine. knowing how to upgrade firmware would mean anything software related you should be able to sort out and most hardware problems you have you'll be able to find video tutorials of how to fix them via youtube and google thanks to the ever-growing popularity of the n95.

well as of now there is like 11 months warranty left...i deal with phones and its my 7th n95 i'm using...i can get the vodafone n95 with 1 year warranty for pretty cheap ae...pm me if any1 needs one :D

someone pls confirm reg the downgrading firmware when needed issue, i thought once you take the vodafone software out, there is no way of putting it back again..?

The ONLY way to upgrade without void the warranty is to wait until the VF version of v20 will be released. That's it.

I'm trying to confirm whether it's possible to downgrade the firmware from v20 to v12. I've read mixed reports on the net about this - some say that you can reflash with the original v12 firmware. I was hoping that I could change the product number back to the original version, then reflash using the v12 firmware. Has anyone tried this?

The reason is that my N95 is only a few months old and running the v20 firmware, but it's just recently been experiencing problems with the screen fading and flashing so I want to take it in for a warranty repair.

Perhaps do a hard reset then try and flash the v20 again?

You might be able to downgrade, I'd say it would have worked from v12 - v10 but v20 is such a major upgrade I think it would be terminally fatal.

Thanks for the clarification. :) I left my phone overnight and this morning it's fine again. I reinstalled v20 firmware again just to be sure and it's all good.

If I took my phone in for a service because the screen had died, surely that would still be under warranty even though I had updated the firmware?
