This is the first time I have strayed from the HTPC section of the forums.. I have a problem I cant get sy mobile tv workig on my phone.

I get the text sent to me with the link to the site and it is http://go.live/skymobiletv. and I get a cannot connet message when I try and browse there.

I guess my vodafone live is not set up right... any suggestions on where to start?
Cheers

Right that would probably explain alot!!!!! Thanks heaps guys, more than likely saved me a ton of time.
Hmm.. think its time for a vodafone live phone.. but I think I need something with less features. Just outlook appointments really!!! and Sky lol. Just thinking out loud!!

Cheers

realistically... there's nothing special with Sky mobile TV.. it's really more so gimmicky approach... Best that you step into a vodafone shop and ask for a demo and see if it is really for you or not? I too was hyped for Sky mobile tv, then I actually tried it out with the shop demo, I immediately think that is' rather lame.

If you're looking to "step down" to simpler phone. most phones have PIM/data connection to Outlook. So that make phone migration a lot easier.

I have to say I was very impressed with Sky Mobile TV for two reasons (and no, not because I work for the company: that would be number three Tongue out).

First, it works and it's available now. Seven channels plus pay per view stuff like rugby and cricket live as it happens. That's not going to replace the big screen TV but for those on shift work, trapped somewhere and unable to get to a screen or whatever it's a viable alternative.

I'm a news junkie - having CNN live on the handset is fabulous. If I hear of something big and politcal I can fire it up and watch it no matter whether I'm at my PC or not.

I'm also a dad, so having Cartoon Network on a handset is great because of the pass back phenomenon. Fractious child in the back of the car? Cartoon Network is your friend.

The second reason is the price. $2.50 a week for all the channels is a damn fine price point. I was expecting it to be more like $2.50 per channel so having them all for that price makes it ridiculously easy.

Is it HDTV streaming to my laptop as I roam wirelessly around the city? No, but then I don't expect it to be and I'm not paying the premium I imagine that would generate.

But as someone else said, go in to a store and give it a go. I find the best way to sell it is to let someone try it for a bit and that's that.

Cheers

Paul

Thanks guys I have tried it out a few times and I am quite keen to get it.
What I guess I am really after now is a phone that just has a decent screen and supports vodafone live along with the calender sync thing.. I guess I need to start doing some research!

cheers again,
Laura

I actually just used sky tv yesterday to watch the live cricket on my Nokia 6234!!

I have to say that the experience was awesome simply because of the fact that I was desk bound so couldnt watch it on TV.

Instead I subsribed to mobile tv, loaded the live cricket, adjusted it to full screen on my phone, turned it on its side, leant it up against the wall and ta-da!!! I could watch the game whilst @ work!!! very handy!!

Now this is very handy for me because I'm a massive sports freak!!

So for me its been a great experience!!

I wish i could watch skytv on my PDA though. Not quite sure why nothing has been done to accomodate the browsers on PDA phones as thats my understanding on why things dont work.
