hi all,

I'm looking for a cheap handheld for wireless intenet access.. Is it possible using zire 31 via its IrDA port for web browsing or e-mail access? If it is, how can I do that? Is there any 3rd party software I have to use (e.g : dialer, mail client, browser, etc) ?

I think the Zire 31 should work ok via infrared to a mobile phone (if the phone provides data connection of course). I've used IR internet connections with my previous Palm models, OS 3. Configuration is pretty much like the Bluetooth one on the Palm side, like creating Connection and Network entries, except that you don't have to create a partnership. You can have a look in our Bluetooth Guides for some screenshots and you'll get it.

Michele,
I would suggest a Tungsten 'E' model only as it has more memory and a much better screen. I bought my wife a 'Zire 31' and while it has been reliable, it's color screen is only 16 bit color. What that means is a less pleasurable viewing experience. In addition it's screen brightness and contrast pale in comparison to the 'E' models. My wife's diabetes has weakened her vision somewhat and she has to strain at times to see it. I hope this helps.

thanks for your suggestions..

I think I'll look for Tungsten E as Palm PC said because it has more features at a reasonable price..
