You can just try running the update again if it is in this state. Generally it will "see" the Pocket PC and update it.

As for not synchronising, I believe Windows Vista WMDC will work with Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition and newer only.

ive spent all day with this and here is what ivew come up with..............

it wont sync, the screen wont go away even if i spin 3 times while crossing my fingers and resetting, i think it is 2 problems, 1 with vista not seeing it, and 2 the rom is written wrong, ive tried every button combo, stamping my feet and the occational swear word!!!

anyone got one for sale, think this ones a duffer!!

First try using Windows XP to install the OS. There aren't any ROM upgrade packages for Windows Vista, so you will have to follow that path. You can try running the install again while your Pocket PC is in that state.

Second, as I wrote before WMDC works with Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition and up only.

I wouldn't blame Windows Vista, it's just a Pocket PC with an old operating system that is not supported without an upgrade. The upgrade was released about four years ago and it wasn't designed for Windows Vista at all.

Also it surprises me that you have the upgrade handy, because HP made it available for a limited time only and it's no longer available, so you can't guarantee that the upgrade is not faulty if it's not coming from legitimate sources.
