Ok, I have gone backward and forward through multiple suggestions from the web about how to hook up hotmail notifications to my blackberry, with no success so far!
Is there anyone in NZ who has their Hotmail account set up, so they can receive/send mail the same way as their other e-mail accounts on their phone?
I am using BIS, and have my work address set up through and exchange server setting, and my Yahoo account was as easy as 1 2 3 to set up through the BIS gooey, but hotmail is a no go???
Not keen on the whole mail forwarding idea, as it deletes the mail from your hotmail as soon as its forwarded, I just want the same as all the other two accounts I have set up???

Any help would be great.

If you want to poll hotmail from your BIS account you have to sign up to hotmail plus (this costs) there is no other way!

Using Gmail is miles better!

I have read on other sites, after a Google search, that in some cases even plus doesn't work, but I hadn't really considered the paying option anyway.
I just have my hotmail address as my notification for my forum, and on so many other places, as well as using MSN messenger on a regular basis, that it would have just made it easier to just flick it on if it was an option.
If it's not I will just leave my others on the blackberry, and hope hotmail will eventually happen. no I wont hold my breath, but that's the way it goes I suppose.

I would look at it like this:

Hotmail requires you to pay for it.
* If you dont pay for it don't expect it to work as they're trying to make it fail.
* If you pay for it, then make them support you with it.. your then paying for it to work...

No one tries to make their service *fail*. Hotmail offers a http interface, used by Windows Live Mail. If a POP3 access is required it is in their right to charge for the service. Other providers do the same. Not everyone is like Google.

Since this is just for forum notiifications, just change the address to a gmail account and use that with its free POP3 access.

I don't want to squabble of the symantics of it.I remember POP3 integration with Hotmail working perfectly fine. then they changed the way it worked to make it a *premium service*, yes it is in their right to do so (im not complaining about it in anyway)

But the way in which they are doing it is to: make it fail if you are not paying for the service. (Which they should) If they want you to pay for a service it is in their right to put safeguards in place to ensure people dont cheat them out of income.

So my response was to say, if you want hotmail, pay for it. otherwise use gmail and enjoy the freedom..

...hope that makes sense i have a splitting headache.....
