Don't miss out on geotagging with integration into the camera app (lucky N82 owners about to get it natively on imminent firmware release) - get the freeware application that integrates itself, unlike the Nokia geotagging software, right here

OT, how's your N82?

I'm curious with geotagging stuff, but haven't really seen anyone doing it in chch... how to seek out the active geotaggers?

Love the N82! Xenon flash makes quite a difference for me personally (no standalone digital camera), and the additional RAM is good (even though ODP in the V20 N95 firmware really optimises RAM utilisation, its still not possible to do some things on the N95 - like play the Quake II port with all the bells and whistles...).

New firmware is imminent for N82 that will natively include geotagging, add web runtime (for widgets), and full flash support (youtube etc in native browser), in addition to many bug fixes (see the changelog at Symbian-Freak).

My dilemma is whether to buy the Black N82, or get the Samsung G810 when it hits the market very soon (April 14th release date best estimate so far). The G810 not only has Xenon Flash, but also 3x Optic zoom also (in addition to a similar feature set to the N95 otherwise). Problem is that all the great Nokia beta labs software will likely not work, which is a shame as I really like the Share Online integration into the camera app and so forth (although its not an insurmountable difficulty, as Shozu can fill some of the gaps). Also N-Gage and 3D graphics accleration are not on offer, neither is the accelerometer as far as I'm aware, and it has less RAM. Its build quality is beautiful though, and it has a larger battery (1200mA), and larger screen than the N82 (2.6 Vs 2.4 inches). Overall its a very tough call; I'm currently awaiting the G810 reviews to start coming (there is one at GSMarena, but its only a proto, so you can't really make any judgements about it from that).

Do you mean geocaching? Thats a different matter, wouldn't have the foggiest about how to find others (must be some websites out there though).

Geotagging is simply the addition of the GPS location to photo exif data, so that you can do things like upload your photos to a google map (little pins, click on them to open the photos) - very expressive way to document trips and so forth. For example, imagine tracking your day out and displaying that information on a Google Map with the photos there as well (can even do it live).

must note: geotagging != geocaching lol

well i'm in huge dilemma too, it's N82 (xenon + 5MP + gps + MfE) vs E51 (sleek + MfE) vs Iphone 2.0 (apple-ness + ExchangeActiveSync) lol

E51 is a beautiful handset, no doubt...

If the media aspects/GPS are at all important to you then it pretty much has to be the N82 from that list (mind you, the Samsung G810 has those features also...).

If they're less important, then its down to the E51 and iPhone. If the open Symbian OS is neither here nor there, and the cost difference is unimportant, then I'd say iPhone. If the balance is the other way then E51.

Tough call though....
