Hi All,

Im not sure if this is the right forum...if its not, please let me know!

I am having issues trying to get my PC to sync with my phone using bluetooth.

I have a new iMate. Ive uploaded the latest Windows build to it.

I have a small bluetooth adapter, a Belkin # F8T003 Ver 2.

I have WinXP SP2.

I can successfully sync if I use a USB cable to connect the phone to my PC.

I have tried the guide found at http://www.geekzone.co.nz/content.asp?contentid=3163 and followed every step. All work well except right near the end.

Ive set everything up as per that guide, fine. My phone had bonded with my PC (did the password thing and it all went well). Both PC and phone show they are bonded.

However thats where things stuff up.

I'll compare it to what I do next when I (successfully) get the PC and phone to sync perfectly using the USB connection cable.

Normally then I would start Activesync, Id then go to connection properties and tick a box saying something like "allow activesync to use USB port" but in this case I should go there and select "use a serial port" and set it to a COM port that matches what my Bluetooth dongle is using.

Should be simple!

But the problem is whenever I am bonded using the bluetooth, Activesync has 2 settings (everything else is greyed out) in its file menu: Get connected and Connection Settings. Both of which bring up the Get connected wizard when I select them. There is no way to get to the menu which lets me allow connections via serial COM ports etc. Doesnt matter what I do...always the wizard runs, searches COM ports and USB, and then says Device not found. It lists the COM port I have it set up on too.

Ive even tried scouring the registry in case I could set the com port there - no luck.

So what to do? I happen to have done a full reinstall of WinXP and SP2 just last night and then followed the Geekzone guide to using the SP2 Bluetooth stack, but still no luck.

This is really annoying me as I woudl like my phone to synch without having to plug it in. Im wondering if even though the phone and PC bond successfully, the Belkin bluetooth usb dongle Im using may be incompatible with the iMate smartphone?

Any ideas appreciated, because I have definitely run out of ideas!

Do you have the Windows SP2 firewall on? It'll impact on ActiveSync...
