Hi guys,

We've found a couple of these lying around in our office.

Unforunately, we can't find the sync cables for them which renders them close to useless.

I was just curious, how hard would it be for me to source another sync cable?

From what I've read, these devices are pretty nice to use, though the information was written when these were released (2002?).

Secondly, is there any way I can install Windows Media Player 8 for Mobile Devices onto it with/without the sync cable?

I'm planning to see if the boss will let me use one for timesheeting/invoicing purposes and it'd be nice to have it double as a media player.

Cheers guys,

I had one back when they were first released. A nice little unit but somewhat underpowered processor wise and very little connectivity options with no wireless/bt.

At one point the connector on the Sync cable was damaged and I was able to source a new one quite easlily (and not too expensively) through an HP dealer - but this is going back a few years now so availability may have changed.

Without the Sync cable, the only other way I could think to install something would be to load it on the memory card from another device/PC with a card reader.

Good luck.

Thanks for the info.

Really quickly, by an HP dealer, do you mean a retailer of HP products or will I have to call the HP support lines.

From memory I went through HP's website and they pointed me to their NZ distributor..

I'll have a hunt around to see if I ever chucked the old cable, might be able to give you a part no.

Great little device with a nice form factor and super bright screen. Battery life was never great but at least you could slip it in your pocket.

I had the 1940 which had bluetooth, as far as I know the 1910 didnt have any wireless apart from infrared. I dont think the port at the bottom even support serial which was a bummer for those wanting to use GPS.

Like its been suggested buy a 3rd party USB cable (the onces that retract are great). My "recent" hx2490 still has the same connector and in fact i still use my USB from my 1940 with it.

Battery life whilst playing MP3s is reportedly 3 1/2~ hours, which is suitable for my tastes (gym, walking to/from work).

And you're right, the 1910 doesn't have any wireless except IrDA.

And the SD isn't SDIO, so it doesn't support GPS/WiFi add on's.

But hell, it's suitable for what I need it for.
