Hi,

I've been having problems trying to connect my ipaq to the internet. I'd like to connect via my Sony Ericsson T68i. Can anyone help with instructions?

Cheers!

Have you have a look in our Bluetooth Guides? There's one there about using a mobile to connect to the internet.

Thanks but I'm still not having much luck. The Ipaq and Sony T68i connect nicely via bluetooth but unable to connect the Ipaq to the internet. Notice keeps saying page cannot be found. Any helpers please!

Thanx

Some questions:

  • Is the connection established ok?
  • Is this only happening with Pocket Internet Explorer? Does MSN Messenger, email or ICQ
  • work with your connection?

If this is GPRS, it might be the APN settings you're using are the ones for WAP. In this case PIE will not work.

For instance, Vodafone offers two APN: Vodafone live! (WAP) and Internet. If I have one of the new mobile phones, then I'd have to create a second APN with Internet settings on the phone, otherwise I can't connect my PPC.

    Thanx Mobileguy,
Your tips helped me get the o2 settings I needed. I'm able to connect my Ipaq to the internet using o2 wap.
I also wanted to ask anyone if it would be possible to connect my ipaq to the internet via my laptop modem so that I can use my anytime connection. Any ideas?
    Cheers Mauricio

Yes, you can. The idea is the same. You just have to create a dial up connection in your notebook.

Of course you'll have to connect the notebook to your mobile either via cable, infrared or Bluetooth. Regardless of what connection you have, look our Bluetooth Guides on how to create the new dial up connection.

    Chaps...

my first post here, pls excuse breaches of kiwi forum etiquette :) Geekzone is a cracking site btw; respect to all involved.

This post helped me sort out my internet connection through O2 as well
I'm using an iPAQ3850, bluetooth via Socket CF card, GPRS on a Nokia 6310i.

I'm not sure tho' why Chaz55 seems to be using a WAP connection. The O2 website (www.o2.co.uk) has a Mobile Internet section where u can download their connection program to the iPAQ and some helpful guides. I've now got GPRS (GSM also installed) and I'm using it quite happily.

Still a little bothered that the O2 program disconnects from the phone 2x, and only holds on to it on the 3rd go. I'm about to email the developer for an answer.

    Hey Big Rich, thanks...

What's the program O2 is using? There are some alternatives - but not free. Like the connect2internet. Is this the kind of program you're talking about?

It's called O2 Mobile Web, but has actually been developed by alicesystems, who have several wireless configuration and connectivity products. Their Alice Connect product can be branded for different resellers - some of the screenshots look like a generic version of the O2 tool. See www.alicesystems.com

In fact alicesystems _do_ sell to O2, and Vodaphone too. Damn those efficient Swedes ;)
