Is anyone owning (or someone with authoritative knowledge of) a Telstra-branded HTC Touch Diamond able to confirm that it definitely provides quad-band GSM including in particular GSM 850, which could mean it might work on GSM 850 when travelling in the USA? (The Telstra NextG network is W-CDMA 850/2100, but I am not asking here about UMTS/W-CDMA 850.) As far as I know, Telstra do not network GSM 850, so it leaves a niggling doubt since the earlier HTC Touch Diamonds announced by HTC seemed to be provided with only tri-band GSM made available.
The Telstra.com site does not seem to provide this detailed info. The HTC Australia site http://www.htc.com/au/product.aspx?id=51636 does state“Network HSDPA/WCDMA:
Australia: 850/2100 MHz
Up to 384 kbps up-link and 7.2 Mbps down-link speeds
Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE:
Australia: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
(Band frequency and data speed are operator dependent.)”
Expansys http://www.expansys.co.nz/d.aspx?i=168037 are listing this ‘phone.
The possibility of its also being compatible with NZ Telecom W-CDMA 850 is interesting.
Any other comments?
