Hi, I see from the latest newsletter that our editor is off to the US with his HP4150 and intends using the wireless feature. I too use the 4150 but find the wireless range is appalling and I can only connect when within 3 - 4m of my Netgear DG834 router and a new omni-directinal antenna I use to try to extend the range. My home phone has a range of 300m so I am very disappointed in the wireless connectivity.

Has anybody got any suggestions or is this the norm?

This is really strange. I use the h4150 at home with a Belkin wireless access point and get some good ranges through walls. On public hotspots I manage to get signal and access from as far as being on the 14th floor and getting a signal from an access point in the ground floor across the street.

Could it be some interference? Is your phone a DECT 2.4GHz, or do you know if any of your neighboors have one?

Thank you for your reply. No, I do not think my cordless phone is to blame: it is new and before that I had a conventional corded phone and I had the problem then. My neighbours are some distance away and use corded telephones.

I can be sitting 4 feet from the antenna and sometimes get only 3 out of 4 bars showing on the connectivity drop-down menu which shows the wireless card signal strength! Trying to use wireless connectivity in the next room is a nightmare and the link keeps dropping. I think it might be the 4150 as I have to do a hard reset to it following any changes to the Netgear security settings and I can not make any changes to the wireless settings on the 4150 itself. HP helpline states I should be getting longer ranges and Netgear only came back with the (expensive) suggestion that I buy extra routers/air bridges. Not helpful.
